If you want to hear the radio interview with the kids this Saturday, you will have to get up a little early to do so. It’s being broadcast here at 2:00pm but that’s about 8:00am EST or 7:00am in Nashville/CST. It’s only going to be a ten minute thing so if you want to sleep in on Saturday, you can always go back to your cozy bed, but if you want a really awesome way to experience what’s happening on this side of the pond, wake up and find an internet hot spot and listen to the first students of this African Music Academy.
I might have a couple of them sing and play drums. We’ll see what happens, but it’s going to be fun. Here is the link: http://ccfm.org.za/streamt.html. Just click on the “Live Streaming” logo somewhere near the top and follow the directions if that doesn’t seem to work. I must warn you that part of the interview will be in Afrikaans because it is their primary language, but hopefully there will be just as much in English too.
Belmont has a University Ministries mission team here right now. The secret 7. Shout outs to them and to what they’re doing. I got to meet them last night, and they truly were a great group of people. Here’s their blog if you want to learn more: CLICK HERE! They’re the third Belmont team to come over. First strictly mission team. Once we return home, the challenge begins to organize as many as we can who have been there, or just want to get involved, and do some awesome things with the university’s resources and maybe pitch it to a couple of the schools or even to the Board itself.
Hopefully, the Belmont group will make it out to the academy tomorrow. Eric from Black Rock Church in Connecticut might come out and join us. He’s a rapper, an English teacher and a youth pastor. He’s been here before, loves kids and music. PLUS a few of the CCFm Musicmakers will join me to introduce ourselves to the kids’ parents. There will be photos. Do not worry. After our “Family Meeting” and lesson, we’ll hop in a car and come to CCFm to show them the radio station and to interview them. Exciting stuff.
Enough for now. Here are some photos I’ve recently taken in Capricorn and Overcome Heights (neighboring community). I’m not going to lie, these past two days have been absolutely perfect weather for photography. I personally think these are some of the best pictures I’ve taken in Africa:

Chris,
I think it’s awesome what you are doing and I just wanted to say that it takes a pretty great person to take the kind of action you have. Kudos to you, keep in touch!

I just heard the broadcast and it was awesome. The kids are so cute, even though some seemed so nervous! I really liked the song they sang, too. Fusi (?) seemed very impressed :)
I am definitely impressed and proud of you!
Love,
Jess
