- 38.6 million people are living with HIV/AIDS in the world today
- South Africa has more people living with AIDS than any other country in the world

- In the area where Living Hope operates, the rate is closer to 30%
- The Living Hope Health Care Centre is the 2nd largest in Cape Town — a city of 3.2 million people
- AIDS has killed more than 25 million people since 1981
- This surpasses the amount of people wiped out by the bubonic plague — one quarter of Europe’s population at the time
- An estimated 3 million now die each year
- That’s close to one person every 10 seconds
